Luck Be A Lady

It's a funny thought, now that I sit here and wonder why I used to hate Monday's so much... I mean, sure, they are the start of a new week, the end to an almost-always relaxing and fun-filled weekend and the beginning of a 10 hour working day. But, there is something different about this specific Monday, something I am sure will change my perspective altogether. Luck...

My weekend was beautiful. The perfect balance of family, friends, work and play... My cousin, Alessia, is an actress of note. I needed no convincing, as I have yet to meet a more endearing and adorable little Drama Queen.  But, just as a little taste for the rest of the world, she took the main part of Violet, in her school play, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- She was absolutely incredible and had the entire audience in stitches! After the play, I spent the rest of the evening with my gorgeous Jussi and Megs, making milkshakes and watching movies.

Saturday was summer again! The sun was shining, not even a breath of wind blowing in the air. So Linds, Tan and I headed to the greenbelt with the boys for a wonderful picnic. Fresh chiabatta, olive tapenade, hummus, biltong, cheese, crisps and strawberries and Bar One chocolate sauce just to make it that much more perfect on Heritage Day. Ending the night off with a wonderful catch up session with my special friend Kim at the Food Lovers Market made my Saturday a spectacular one.
Sunday, the sun looked set to stay and a beautiful family breakfast started it off with lots of smiles and laughing. After breakfast I got to work on writing, which isn't really work for me as I find such fun in writing when I express myself and explore my dreams with every word I write. The cousins decided to infiltrate my house like an army of ants not long after I typed the last word of my article and we ended up in the sun, playing the piano, swimming, tanning and watching a movie. Bliss. The end to the weekend and a perfect one it was.
So, why didn't I have those Sunday night blues, like I normally do at the end of a beautiful weekend? I honestly can't tell you... All I know, is that when I went to sleep last night, I was filled with happiness and a sense of serenity
Waking up this morning was surprisingly easy and the sun filling my bedroom made my mood a merry one. It was a warm morning and I was ecstatic to be able to put on a flowing summer skirt and the cutest pair of wedges- Proof that a shoe can change a girls life or, in my case, perspective.
Work today was wonderful, I honestly don' t think that I've ever said that before. Long, but full of opportunity and I am going to take every single one of them! I am so excited and had such a beautiful and happy day.

Summer is coming!!! :) Keep your chin up, think happy thoughts and smile... often....

If this weekend is anything like the last, I will definitely be basking in the sunlight with some delicious and chilled cocktails, fresh and fruity snacks and a group of the most incredible friends in the world!
I hope you had a luck and happy day too...

Honey Bees and Tranquil Seas

Music or Books?

The thing about books, is that they allow me to escape, if even only for a while to a place where I feel at peace. Yet music to me, is very much like a book, as the songs I listen too generally reflect the mood I am in, thus telling their own sort of abstract story- often making my perspective clear.

On Angels Wings

The warmth of an angel's light can comfort and illuminate the whole world

Never have I been more certain, than when I say I believe in Angels. For me, Angels are everywhere, they are in everything. They have no form... but appear only as they intend for you to encounter them. I feel them through the wind. I believe that the wind is either an Angel  rushing to be where it is needed or it is an Angel whispering in your ear to let you know that you are loved and not alone. I feel Angels in the sunshine. When the warmth of the sun warms your spirit, it is in fact the hug of an Angel, wrapping it's wings around you and keeping you safe.

I see the Angels in the wings of a butterfly- beautiful, humble and unassuming. I see the Angels in the petals of a rose exuding tranquility, delicacy and a sense of peace and I see the Angels in a rainbow, bringing a bit of cheerfulness to a dull day... I believe that the clouds are the artwork of the Angels and that the sunsets are pictures that they have coloured in for us to express their love- just as children  colour in pictures for their loved ones.

I hold the Angels, by touching the heart of others with a kind word or a warm hug or a sweet kiss and I hold the Angels by holding onto the Family and Friends who I cherish. I hold onto these Angels and treasure their presence in my life, within my heart. I feel closest to the Angels when I am lying beneath the stars or sitting quietly on the beach listening to the sound of the waves as they rush up to the sand...

I hear the Angels through music and listen as they fill my heart with song. My brother Mikey, is my Angel and my song for him is called To Where You Are, sung by Josh Groban...

 Who can say for certain
Maybe you’re still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You’re still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you’re there

A breath away not far

 Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn’t faith believing

All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
’cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you’re there
A breath away’s not far
To where you are

I know you’re there
A breath away’s not far
To where you are

Cinnamon Buns and Tea

Wow! I struggled to get out of bed this morning. Its so cold outside and a movie and pyjama day would have been just wonderful. But... I had to abandon that dream and get dressed for another day of work. It wasn't all that bad though, I guess when you sitting in the traffic, you really have the chance to think about everything and I got to thinking about some of the things I love... other than my cinnamon bun and tea :)

Here is my Tuesday list of 15 of the best and most precious things in life:
☆ Big warm hugs
☆ Ice Cream
☆ The smell of the rain
☆ Daydreaming
☆ Walking through a field of pretty flowers
☆ Laughing
 Smiles from strangers
☆  Soft cushy pillows
☆ Anything chocolate
☆ Passionate kisses
☆ My Beautiful Mom
☆ Wishing on a star
☆ Loving someone
☆ My cousin playing the piano
and lastly, but most importantly
☆ Being loved

Sometimes the most beautiful and treasured things are the things that you can't physically hold unless you hold them in your heart...

Magic. Candles. Sparkles

September has always been an incredibly special month, not only does it mark the start of Spring but it also marks the days of some very special birthdays! My cousin, Justine and I celebrate our birthdays only one day apart and just four days later, my brother Matt, celebrates his. So, you can just imagine the beautiful, fun and happy week and weekend that we had

Imagine a week filled with balloons, friends, family and lots and lots of smiles. This year, my birthday was just gorgeous... Celebrating my first GLAMOUR birthday with the GLAMOUR team and some delicious cupcakes added little touch of magic to an ordinary working day. My precious friends, Lindsay, Matanna, Aviv and Niamh as well as my two beautiful Aunties, Karen and Nicola came to have lunch with me in my lunch break adding an extra hour of smiles, laughs and tons of fun.

To top it all off  my three gorgeous cousins flew from Joburg to give me the best birthday surprise of my life. I had just got home from work and went to put my handbag down in my bedroom. I walked in to find Roxy lying on my bed, Pasci in the bathroom and Candy in my cupboard. Am I not the luckiest girl in the whole world?

Making a birthday wonderful isn't at all that hard! All you need are the ingredients for love:

9 cups of smiles
3 cups of laughter
500g of caring
375ml of unsalted romance
One handful of hugs
2tsp of sweet kisses
TIP: A sprinkle of magic to make it that extra bit more lovely...
There you have it the recipe for a very Happy Birthday- simple as pie.

Come to think of it, if it's that simple to make a birthday so special, why not treat everyday like its someone's birthday and fill their day with hopes and dreams, wishes and sunshine, rainbows and love, stars, happiness and magic.
