Once upon a fairytale

There is this thing, that no matter how old I get, I know I will never grow out of... From Barbies to the Spice Girls I had my crazes that came and went, but to this day I still believe in fairytales. When I stumbled across this gorgeous Cindarella-inspired bridal shoot, I was in awe! It is so magical and the detail is just stunning!

I still have my collection of fairytale books and Disney movies that never fail to put a smile on my face! I just wish they made more Disney movies like the 'classic' ones!

This shoot was done by Jonda Spurbek Photography and by the look of her blog, they do some really divine and fun pre-wedding shoots!

I love the old vintage clock and the way the time has 'Struck Twelve'

Of course, there have to be cupcakes... what's life without them?

I absolutely adore horses, they are the most beautiful and tranquil animals and I miss horse-riding so much!

This is my favourite shot, the large open field really makes her dress stand out and the overall image has that romantic-chic feel

Have a happy day today, filled with smiles, love and magic

A Weekend Treat

It's the weekend and it was a beautiful and sunny day here in Cape Town! I hope your Saturday was filled with sunshine and happiness and if you not out doing something completely fabulous, I hope you having the most relaxing, gorgeous and self-indulgent evening! I don't usually blog on weekends, but I've missed it terribly and I'm just too excited - to show you the rest of  my market collections - to wait till Monday! So, I thought, what better way to end off a Saturday then to do something that makes you smile.

Wow! I really don't think there is anything more beautiful than a butterfly. I simply adore them and these detailed butterfly gift- tags are just stunning.

Old school candy? Yes please! But even better? Turkish Delight... Toffee! Turkish Delight is a God send! But when you mix it with toffee, which initially I was a little skeptical about, the two flavours combine to create one of the tastiest treats I have ever had the pleasure of eating! You've got to get your hands on some!

My vintage paper! My heart smiles a little every time I look at it! I can't wait to have it framed and put it in my room. Don't you just love the detail on the crown? And the white rabbit in the 'Alice in Wonderland' one is adorable!

Here some more of those gorgeous cards I was talking about the other day! The fairy one bellow is my absolute favourite! I love how each fairy has its on name according to a flower, somehow it just gives them a bit of character!

Vintage 'Wizard of Oz' paper! It was never my favourite fairytale, but I loved the concept and the morals of the story! How each character had to find themselves and learn to believe in themselves, it's quite inspiring and this paper is stunning! I love the illustrations! The wooden heart is another cute find! I have lots of them hanging up in my room! They also a cute attachment to a present!

This wrapping paper is absolutely divine! Butterflies, sparrows, pretty flowers and music notes all in one! And the greatest thing? Its not like normal wrapping paper, it has the old feel and is a bit thicker, which makes it that much more special! The alphabet folder beneath it, is my cutest new office-buy! Just something fun to slip loose pages in so they don't get lost or damaged! They came in all different covers, ranging from Paris to birds  and aged maps.

Whatever the question, cupcakes are the answer! And these adorable valentines cupcake holders are to die for. I especially love the little tags that come with them. With my vintage heart straws and these cupcake holders, I'm sure everything will be heart-shaped

Nothing is better than Beatrix Potter... Except maybe a Beatrix Potter Cupcake kit! I love these so much I can't wait to use them, but part of me wants to keep them in their box forever! It will have to be a very special occasion before I use these ones.

I hope you love these small treasures as much as I do!
Have a beautiful evening and a special Sunday!

Sweet dreams, Sleep tight

Market Madness

Don't you just love markets? The little bits of lovely and the vintage treasures are an absolute treat! Saturday's at the Biscuit Mill are mornings well spent and the food market there keeps me going back each time for more. Especially for the gorgeous cupcakes and delicious smoothies! My beautiful friend Matanna introduced me to markets and I've been hooked ever since! But when she took me to The Kamers Vol Geskenke Market, I fell in love instantly! Just look at these stunning images of all my fabulous buys and you'll see exactly why!
The market happens once a year in South Africa around the end of October. The entrance fee is minimal and the hundreds of little stalls give your eyes something to feast upon. It's always a good idea to save up for an excursion like this because there are thousands of pretty things you cant help but want!
This gorgeous vintage paper had me staring for hours! There were so many pages, each with a different imprint, but the pink rose and vintage lady grabbed my attention. I absolutely adore the Alice in Wonderland page and I'm so happy I found it! The paper is so beautiful that I can't bear the thought of using it! So, I think I'm going to frame it, because it will add the perfect sprinkle of vintage chic to my bedroom!
Vintage straws with hearts! Need I say more? Not only do they come in the old school stripes, but stars, hearts and colorful spots too. They're absolutely perfect for the party you planning and the hearts are a cute touch for a valentines day inspired occasion. Next to a gorgeous bunch of peonies, a card vintage card like these two are the next best thing. Fairies are one of my favourite things next to butterflies and angels, so these cards couldn't have been more wonderful.
Thanks to Matanna's ability to hunt for little treasures in record time, I walked away with a collection of old cards. The method is really simple, they took pages out of an old book and tied them together to form a card, then taking photocopied images of fairies and a variety of fairytales, they pasted an image onto the front and added a blank page in the center and voila! An array of beautiful cards!
This fairy is the most exquisite ornament I have seen in a very long time! The detail is gorgeous and the overall look just warms my heart. I love that she's reading a book, it adds a bit of character and the flowers in her hair make her all the more magical.  There are many more photos to come, so join me again soon for a few more bits of happiness, including my 'Once upon a fairytale' magnet board, Huge cupcake magnet, Vintage Wizard of Oz paper and plenty more!

Thanks for stopping by on Petals Pleats and Pearls...

Have a beautiful and happy thursday
